Welcome to ADilemma,

This app is a test to weigh the meaning of trust against the power of greed.

Can you be trusted?

Find out this truth about yourself by making one crucial decision in the following situation: You and a stranger are given a "load” of money. Do you trust the other enough to share half, or take everything?
… a classic Dilemma, huh?

The so-called prisoner’s dilemma sits at the core of ADilemma.
It is a theoretical game situation, in which two players have to decide to trust or betray one another.
In ADilemma players have the opportunity to win money generated by ads. At the end of each round of the game, two finalists are asked to share or take the generated pot of money.

The standard text book example in Game Theory Economics describes a situation in which two criminals are obliged to either confess or remain silent in front of judge. It is a paradox that shows how two completely rational individuals might not cooperate, even if it appears that it is in their best interests to do so.

Especially in times of lacking trust, with self-interested schools of thought on the rise, this app intends to help shift towards a more cooperative and trustworthy society.

This is a multiplayer live game.

Race to the round final to win the money: Each round two finalists participate in the Final Dilemma. Become one of them by attaining the highest Score in the global leaderboard. To do so, you battle against randomising bots that can trust or betray you. There is a limited number of battles to be played until each round ends and the Final Dilemma begins. This is initiated by clicking on the Endgame button. Whoever clicks this button the fastest (Hitchhiker), joins the Score Leader (Traveller) in the Final Dilemma to play for the round’s prize money.

The Matrix: The matrix in your profile determines how many points you can gain/lose from each battle against bots. The blue numbers indicate the possible outcomes in the case that you trust the opposing bot. The red numbers indicate how many points you can win or lose if you betray your opponent. The standard matrix lets you gain 1 point for a successful cooperation, 0 for being betrayed while trusting a bot, 2 points for a successful betrayal against a bot that trusted you, and -1 if you both you and the bot decided to betray the other.

Upgrade profile: In your profile you may participate in a poll, in which you can say what you would do if you were in the Final Dilemma; Share or Take? Throughout each round you can upgrade your profile by spending points on boosts that help you gain points faster to play and discover higher level bots. These will expire by the end of the round. You can also upgrade your profile by getting suits that will decorate your profile. These will stay in your profile indefinitely.
Trust Index: Every decision counts. E.g. in 100 battles you trusted the opponent 80 times, resulting in a Trust Index of 80%. This will be shown in the leaderboard, Final Dilemma and on your profile will not be reset.

Share or Take: In the Final Dilemma the prize money becomes available. Both finalists will have to choose between sharing half of the money or taking all of it. If both players decide to Share, the prize money will be split in half between them. If one player decides to Share while the other Takes, the Taker takes it all. Should it happen that both players choose to take the money, both end the round with nothing.

The result: Every players watches the two finalists make their decision. When the result is shown, the prize money is sent to the winner’s / winners’ profile. The game is reset by the first person to hit the Start button, which initiates a new round.

Cash out winnings: Within your profile you can collect the money from all the rounds that you have won. You may cash it out at any point through a bank or PayPal transaction.

We hope you enjoy
